Open Dialogue on Parliamentary Election
On April 30th, 2009 Chamchamal youth forum organized an open dialogue on democracy values and the necessity to implement these values in he election process to reach a fair and free election. This perception has spread widely in Kurdistan Region ahead of the July regional elections since people are distrustful from the political parties currently in power and as new lists created with goals to fight corruption.
The dialogue was led by director-in-chief of Hawlati newspaper and Secretary of Kirkuk Journalists.
Preparation Meeting to Conduct Polling
In order to practice a scientific and systematic polling in Chamchamal, the polling group of Chamchamal youth forum conducted a meeting to discuss topics related to how achieve it in a proper way, how to fill the forms, how to chose people to fill the forms, methods to select areas and others. The meeting was hold on May 13th, 2009 in Chamchamal youth forum in which 37 people (17 female & 20 male) took part.
Lecture on Reportages and Reports to Media held
On May 6th, 2009 a seminar was held in Chamchamal youth forum on methods to conduct reportages, interviews and reports for the media. The lecture was given by Ma’ruf Majeed, an active youth Forum member who has good experiences in this regard. The lecture shed lights on ways to through which young journalists can take to produce a well-designed reportage. 17 students (both sexes) of College of Law and Politics who have limited practical experiences participated.
Democracy and Elections Roundtable
On May 14th, 2009 a group of CSI youth forum in Chamchamal organized a roundtable for a number of journalists and Students of Education College in Chamchamal in which Fatah Zakhoey, the former KRG Minister of Culture attended. The roundtable dedicated to discuss topics related to democracy and election process in Kurdistan Region. However, many other issues were discussed especially those which have relative to the predicted political situation in the region.
