| CSI Youth Groups Visit Rural Areas |
On January 1st, 2009 a group of youth trained on leadership by the CSI visited two villages Gotapa and Dallawa near Aghjalar Sub-district. The aim was to meet the youth of these to areas in close to have a full image of the young people problems and needs in order to build relationships with other youth groups in the region.
Another reason behind this mission was to provide the villages’ small libraries with some books and references collected by CSI from local press and publication houses. Some young volunteers established these two libraries and rented houses for them. In the two libraries there were some computers, TV sets and a satellite which obtained by the youth themselves.
Daily, many young people and students visit these libraries to read and borrow books, newspapers and magazines. Various kinds of books are found there such political, social and public education books.
The main problem of these two libraries, in addition to the lack of electricity and other equipments, is the lack of a proper building to be used as a library; therefore, the youth had to rent a muddy house on their pocket money and they use it as their library. Dallawa youth in addition to the library, they published a magazine named (Towards the Hope) and continued until the spring of 2008 but due to the lack of financial support they stopped publishing it.
CSI young groups, who have already been trained on leadership, discussed the ways to classify the books and how more books obtained from other publication associations and firms. The youth of these two villages decided to visit the Chamchamal CSI young forum in order to exchange experiences and get more information in this respect.
Within the books which have been provided to these two small libraries, many CSI publications as well as the Ganjana Magazine which deals with young people issues published on NED fund.
CSI youth groups in Chamchamal will support establishing two other libraries in two villages near the District on request of some young people of these villages. CSI trainees have collected books and other requirements for this purpose and soon the libraries will be opened.
