Library Project in Sulaimaniyah Governorate

In coordination and support of Sulaimaniyah Provincial Council, CSI will supply 150 villages in five Districts of this Governorate with libraries. Each library will be supplied with more than 150 books including different resources such as cultural, economics, political and others. The goal of the project will remain a long term goal which CSI works to meet in the future to cover all villages of the Kurdistan Region and create small groups of youth to read and discuss topics as a regular activity of these groups. More than 22000 books, magazines and different references will be disseminated in the rural areas and more than 15oo young people will be engaged in the project.
This project is continuation of some youth groups’ activities in Chamchamal District to supply village youth with references. However, CSI developed the idea to cover a wider range and supply more references as well as training of the youth groups on topics such as civic rights, democracy, rule of law, tolerance and freedom of speech and expression and many other concepts relevant to civil society.
